Review: Belkin Lap Cooling Lounge
It's an unfortunate irony these days that 'laptops' frequently run too hot to actually be placed on a lap for any amount of time.
The MacBook range is no exception, and Belkin's Cooling Lounge offers an effective solution to this problem.
Effective Cooling
The Lounge is an 'active cooler' (as opposed to passive) and draws cool air over the user's MacBook whilst pushing the hot air away. The built in fan is quiet but effective - so much so that in cooler environments it may actually do its job a little too well and make you feel cold!
In warm conditions the Cooling Lounge's design ensures that a lap-based MacBook will keep within peak operational temperatures, whilst the cushioned base provides the user with a comfortable platform.
The Cooling Lounge draws its power from the laptop it's connected to via USB.
The Verdict
If you find your MacBook temperature is causing you concern, you could do much worse than the Belkin Cooling Lounge. Priced at around £34.99 it is one of the cheapest cooling stands on the market, and certainly does the job it is designed for with great gusto.
